Greetings Friend of Whisper n Thunder!

As I write this, things have warmed in Arizona. The sun and heat we’re known for gives a glorious disposition to our residents, and I have to share with you this same sunny attitude abounds at Whisper n Thunder.

• We’ve celebrated our 3rd birthday and are now well into our 4th year!
• We launched an online radio show several months ago – covering topics such as domestic violence in Indian Country, health issues, the arts and so much more. Already we average a listening audience of almost 2,000 people.
• Our online magazine broke 2.25 million site requests recently.
• We provided heat to 74 families this winter, as compared to 48 last winter.
• We will be giving away 4 Winds Scholarships this June – delighting in the impact we are having in education, so important to the future of leadership in the Nations.
• Whisper n Thunder will hold 4 symposiums around the country in the last quarter of 2013, to hear the voice of the People, to listen to how we can best respond with the greatest impact.
• The number of requests for speaking engagements by all board members is up, Up, UP!
• Our social media presence remains strong and in growth mode. Over 10,000 people follow us daily on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace etc.

These accomplishments and many more are made possible by you, our donors, and by our tremendous Whisper n Thunder team – ALL VOLUNTEER. We move through our journey undergirded by our passion for justice and our compassion for this most vulnerable population. With you as our partner, we are clearly aware of possibilities….

Dreams?

• To be able to pay our authors & creative people honorariums that reflect the raise they so richly deserve. Honorariums currently run Whisper n Thunder approximately $6,000 per year. An increase to $12,000 annually is needed.
• Our ultimate goal for the Winds Scholarship program is to distribute 10 scholarships per year, plus one larger scholarship. Current Winds Scholarships are in the amount of $500.00 per Native student.
• EREZ FUND sustainability. While we are pleased with our increase from 48 families to 74 families this year, we currently have over 100 applications on file that will not be filled this year. Contrary to public opinion due to misconceptions around the small percentage of gaming tribes, poverty in Indian Country abounds.
• As an organization - to have our ‘costs’ covered. As you well know, it is more difficult to raise funds simply to ‘keep the doors open’.
• Salaries, office space etc? All in good time… 

Whisper n Thunder wants to continue and increase our impact. We want to continue empowering others and we can do this with your caring and compassionate partnership! We can't wait to open our next chapter - all with your help.
