Society, Forgetfulness and A Pandemic

~ Mel Gotwalt

This has been a challenging quarter for all of us.

Across our news feeds we read of the data on

COVID-19 and police brutality among various

groups in our nation. The stories and the

numbers are difficult to read. The harder part is

what is not written for yet again natives are forgotten and neglected. Our numbers are more tragic but only found in the few reports that consider native populations.

Difficult to write much this quarter without stirring up anger, so I will include just a few words.

Be aware - this virus is dangerous. Wear masks, care for each other, especially our elders. Be vigilant, protect each other and please do not remain silent. This organization was created to give us voices, please give strength and support each other here especially in this time of great need.
